This week's WKYC special correspondent is none other than actress and Cleveland-native Monica Potter.
Monica splits her time between Los Angeles and the house she grew up in Cleveland’s North Collinwood neighborhood.
Since there’s no place like home for the holidays, we asked her to give our Sara Shookman a tour of must-visit spots in her hometown this time of year.
From Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine, to SweetBerry Fresh Market, to The Standard Restaurant on E. 185th Street, Monica and Sara got a true taste of family, friendship and delicious food.
At Our Lady of Lourdes, Monica confessed to Sara that she had wanted to be a nun when she was little. She also got emotional when thinking about her late father.
"There's something so magical about that place when there's snow," Monica said. "And if you don't know what to do when you get there, just look up. That's what my Dad would say...and he's up there."
When the duo visited SweetBerry Fresh Market, it was a walk down memory lane as Monica saw some old friends. "You feel like you're going back in time and you know everybody," she said grinning. "I get to play, then I stop because I start talking to people."
The final stop took Monica and Sara to The Standard Restaurant. "This area just has so much meaning and I have so much affinity for this area," Monica said of the E. 185th Street neighborhood where The Standard is located. "And the food here, by the way, is the best in town."
On Tuesday, Sara will return the favor and show Monica a few of her favorite holiday hot spots in Akron.
