Bedford High School's assistant band director to march in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Northeast Ohio band director Jennifer Shauf is set to march in the parade in New York City on Thursday, Nov. 23.

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. — In less than a week, Northeast Ohio will be represented in the 2023 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Bedford High School's assistant band director Jennifer Shauf is set to march in the parade in New York City on Thursday, Nov. 23. 

Shauf will be part of a marching band made up of 400 band directors from across the country. The National Band Directors Marching Band will be directed by Bowling Green University's Jon Waters.

This year's parade features 16 giant character balloons, 26 floats, 32 novelty and heritage inflatables, 12 marching bands, 700 clowns and eight performance groups. 

Viewers can watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on WKYC at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. This year marks the first time that the parade will begin a half hour earlier than previous years.
