Tree lighting ceremony takes place at the May Dugan Center in Ohio City

The ceremony is now in its 11th year.

CLEVELAND — It was a holiday celebration at the May Dugan Center Thursday night as they celebrated their tree lighting ceremony.

The ceremony, which is in its 11th year, took place in the center’s plaza on the corner of Bridge and Randall Avenues in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood.

Thousands of lights were turned on during the ceremony and are twinkling brightly on the 37-foot tree as community members watched nearby.

This year, Santa himself made a special stop at the Urban Community School. He was greeted by families who were waiting safely in their cars to get a peek at everyone’s favorite man in red.

This year, parts of the ceremony were virtual and families were able to watch on the Center’s Facebook page.

According to their website, The May Dugan Center is a lifeline for 6,500 individuals and families who need effective and meaningful programs that will improve their lives and their communities.
