'Boss Ladies of Cleveland' | Before it was a series, it was a book--meet the author, Maggie Sullivan

In 3News' latest series, Sara Shookman will feature stories of women forging their own paths across Northeast Ohio's diverse communities.

CLEVELAND — We are excited to announce the launch of a new series here at 3News -- focused on the careers of Cleveland women. Meet "Boss Ladies of CLE"...women from all walks of life who are debunking the idea you need to move away to make it big.

3News anchor Sara Shookman will be bringing their stories or triumph and challenge to "Front Row" each Wednesday.

But, before "Boss Ladies" was a series, it was a book -- written by Cleveland author Maggie Sullivan, who says the idea to collect these stories was born from her own desire to see more women succeed.

"I really want to see more women in power and I believe that when you're inspired by the stories of women who have already blazed a path for themselves - it helps plant that first seed."

Maggie told Sara in a recent interview, that these inspiring women share a few important traits.

"A boss lady is somebody who boldly chooses her own direction she gets stuff done she often strays from the conventional path and blazes her own trail. She often works towards a higher purpose outside of her own personal success."

The "Boss Ladies of CLE" book was written before the current pandemic, so almost all of the women Maggie featured are now dealing with new and unexpected challenges to their industries.

"Many of their business models changed or they had to adapt to to stay alive in their work and they're hustling even more," Maggie said.

So this new series will focus on that very hustle that not brought all of these ladies to this point, but will take them to the next stage in their journey.

Join us every Wednesday on "Front Row" to learn more, and get inspired.
