Introducing the Cavs Kids Club Jr. Reporters

What does it take to be a respected and successful journalist? Mike Polk Jr. meets a very special elite mini-media crew.

CLEVELAND — What does it take to be a respected and successful journalist?

This isn’t a rhetorical question. I’m currently crowd-sourcing all of the advice I can get.

And boy did I stumble upon a wealth of information and knowledge when I sat down with The Cleveland Cavaliers enthusiastic and impressive group of young journalists selected to be this year’s Cavs Kids Club Jr. Reporters.

The elite mini-media crew ranges in age from eight to twelve years old and each reporter was selected after submitting a 60-second video explaining why they want to on this year’s pre-teen press crew.

After reviewing the creative submissions, the top 10 semi-finalists were selected to audition at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse and the finalists WOWED the judges with the positive energy, creativity and passion for Cavaliers basketball.

Their objectively cool gig gives them the opportunity to cover a variety of exclusive Cavs events including player and coach press conferences, community relations initiatives, youth sports programming and more.

But were these kids ready for this spotlight? Would I be able top help guide them on their way? More importantly, did they have any tips that could help me?

You’ll find out in this exciting two-part odyssey! Go Cavs.
