CLEVELAND — Someone once said that time spent with cats is time never wasted.
Behold, the CFA (Cat Fancier's Association) All-Breed Cat Show, a room full of people who couldn't agree with that philosophy more.
For two days, feline fanatics packed this portion of the newly structured I-X Center, which in addition to featuring a cat show this weekend, also simultaneously hosted a bridal show and a hot tub expo. So if you were a recently engaged cat lover in the market for a new jacuzzi, this was the place to be.
But me, I was just there to meet some cats.
Linda Komar from the Cleveland Persian Society told me that this year's show featured 200 cats, including a cat-lebrity - Smudge the mustached cat! Judge Chuck Grabowski tried to explain the competition rules to me, but to be honest, the judging criteria is a little bit too complicated for me. All I can tell you is I got to pet some really pretty kitties.
Cat people like myself, much like the animals we love, tend to prefer long stretches of solitude and we don't mind being alone. But every now and again, we do like to come out from under the bed to gather and socialize with our own kind. So naturally, I decided the show was the perfect place to debut my original work of art - "Cat Rap." If you missed it, don't worry. I'll be back next year.
