Exercising your pet in Northeast Ohio's unpredictable weather is easier than you thought

The weather doesn't have to stop you and your dog from being active together.

CLEVELAND — Living in Northeast Ohio, we know the weather can’t always be perfect so we’re taking a look at different ways to keep your pet active.

Recently, we’ve been doing a lot of hibernating because it’s been too cold for us to venture out, but our dogs aren’t necessarily in favor of sitting in front of the TV all day.

Amanda Roush created the website doglifeincle.com about three years ago to give pet owners a resource to turn to for help.

One of her articles gives us ideas on what to do with our dogs during the worst part of Northeast Ohio winters.

"Depending on the dog, they might go stir crazy sitting on the couch all day,” Roush said.

Here are three places to take your dog when they do experience cabin fever and staying home is just not an option.

1.    CLErun – owner Kay Rackley runs the Valley View facility that offers a few options for pet owners or dogs in competition. You can “walkabout” with your dog on a leash, rent space for doggie play time or practice agility on one of two courses.

2.    Pack walks – Chuck Stella owns Elite K-911 which meets every Wednesday and Saturday to walk and practice basic commands. In the winter, they typically meet at a warehouse to walk in a large circle, socializing and bonding.

3.    Doggie daycare – there are quite a few places to drop your dog off to play. Two locations in Northeast Ohio offer hourly rates: Stay! and The Dog Stop Plus.

For prices and hours, click on the link or call the facility.
