WESTLAKE, Ohio — If you're looking for luxury accommodations for your four-legged friends, Westlake has a new spot in town offering just that.
A brand new pet day care and boarding business called PetSuites has come to Sharon Drive, opening its doors on September 7 under the care of general manager Katherine Schneider.
Katherine, who has years of experience taking care of animals and has two dogs of her own that she rescued from the Cleveland APL, says Pet Suites is special because of the individualized care they offer.
"At PetSuites, we customize the experience for your pet because we're here for their comfort and enjoyment," she told me. "We get to know our regulars' routines and personalities and adapt their care accordingly. For example, we have a lovely 12 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Rolo. He loves to play with the other pups in our small play group, but specifically tells us when he's ready for a break. We'll then bring him into a suite with a comfy bed and feed him lunch. He also tells us when he's ready to go back out!"
For anxious owners, that kind of special attention from trained professionals makes all the difference.
"Before coming to PetSuites, I was the Shelter Operations and Client Care Manager at the Cleveland APL," Katherine said. "The APL is at the forefront of shelter medicine and prepared me to manage a large population of animals safely, with specific attention to their physical and emotional needs."
The dog-mom to Rupert (an American Pit Bull Terrier) and Edie (a Staffordshire Terrier), says the staff at PetSuites share her passion for treating furry family members like royalty.
"Our staff is made up of pet lovers and we know how we would want our pups and kitties treated when away from home," she said. "We delight in giving pets a clean, safe and fun place to stay when mom and dad can't be with them."
For those who want to make sure they understand exactly what their pet will be getting into at PetSuites, Katherine says the staff prides itself on transparency and full tours of the entire resort are available.
"We've had people apply to work here after touring the facility because it's such a colorful, happy place to be," Katherine told me.
PetSuites Westlake has a $500 PetSuites Health Care Commitment Program, in which PetSuites will reimburse owners up to $500 for any eligible expenses incurred while their pet is at the resort receiving boarding, daycare or training services.
The lobby is open 6:30 AM to 8 PM 360 days a year, offering a wide range of drop off and pick up times for guests. For pets with special meal needs, there is a kitchen dedicated to keeping food refrigerated and staff are more than happy to prepare meals as directed by the pet parent.
PetSuites is owned by National Veterinary Associates. NVA is a leading global community of more than 1,400 veterinary hospitals and pet resorts, describing themselves as united in the love of animals and the people who love them.
