Going on a last-minute vacation? 3 options to book your dog on short notice

Planning a last-minute vacation for your family means planning a stay-cation for your dog.

Are you looking for a last-minute getaway as summer starts to wind down?

It is a little tougher to do when you are a pet owner, but there are a few options you can take advantage of with short notice.

If you need a little quiet time, consider the Canine Country Club in North Olmsted. This new facility has everything you can imagine. The owners have called it the “YMCA for dogs” with canine massage, guest speakers, trainers and a heated pool.

Jude and Arthur Johansen opened the door to the country club a week ago, and they’re quickly finding out there’s a market for it.

You can make it a family trip or just drop your dog off for a few hours of solitude.

Rover.com is another option.

It's a free app that offers dog sitting in your home, overnight stays/boarding at the sitter's house, check-ins (where you let them know how many times you want them to stop by) and daily walks.

You can choose someone close to you and the prices are set by the sitters so you have options on what price fits best for you.

Lastly, sometimes leaving your pet in the comfort of your own home isn't always doable, so there are plenty of doggy daycare and boarding facilities around.

Choose the number of nights, bring blankets and toys and leave the rest to the staff! Some even have cameras where you can use your phone to check in on your dog while you're gone.

Just make sure it's reputable and you ask questions.
