CLEVELAND — It’s a scenario most dog owners have experienced.
You sit down at the dinner table when your four-legged family member decides they’re going to whine and beg for your chicken, steak and any other salivating side dish they can scarf down.
Roxy, our Wags 4 Warriors service dog in training, was back in the Channel 3 studios Tuesday with her handler, Kayla DeLorenzo, to reveal the simple secret to stopping this behavior.
“You just want to start them off giving them no human food so they just know it’s not for them,” DeLorenzo said. “With service dogs, they go everywhere with their veteran. She’s going to sit in between your legs at the restaurant, so she needs to know that’s not hers and she can’t beg for it. You just start them off as puppies not having any human foods.”
