Cleveland APL reduces adoption fees to $10 on Wags and Whisker Wednesdays through October: Ready Pet GO!

The APL's focus is not just adopting animals, but giving pets a new chance at happiness.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Animal Protective League is making mid-week memorable by reducing adult dog and cat adoption fees to just $10 every Wednesday in October, through the 30th. During the same time period, fees for kittens are reduced to $50.  Licensing fees for dogs still apply.

The event has been in the works for a while to free up space and help more animals in need. But in the wake of hurricanes Helene and Milton -- the demand is even greater.

The Cleveland APL is hoping to take in adoptable animals from North Carolina and Florida. Shelters there are assisting with pets separated from their families during the storms.

The hope is Wags and Whisker Wednesdays will make a difference.

"It's really to try to incentivize people to come in and see the wonderful animals that are here and available for adoption, and consider adopting because we know we have more animals that need to come in," said Cleveland APL President and CEO Sharon Harvey.

The APL held another adoption event on the weekend of October 11th to start freeing up more space. Harvey said the event was successful, but they they still have plenty of wonderful dogs and cats available for adoption.

The APL is working with their animal transfer partner to determine how many animals they can take from the Southeast. Those cats and dogs could arrive later this week.

Wags and Whisker Wednesdays continue Oct. 16, 23 and 30. The APL is open on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
