Summit County Animal Control to discount adoption fees March 13-31: How to adopt

Adoption fees are greatly reduced for both cats and dogs at the animal shelter in Akron.

AKRON, Ohio — In celebration of St. Patrick's Day on Friday, March 17, and National Puppy Day on Thursday, March 23, the Summit County Animal Control is encouraging individuals to adopt a dog or cat during its "Help A Puppy Get Lucky Adoption Event."

During the campaign, adoption fees will be reduced to $28.00 for dogs (regular adoption fees are $94.00) and $10.00 for cats (regular adoption fees are $60.00).

The fees will be reduced between Monday, March 13 and Friday, March 31. 

The pets available for adoption will be fully vetted, which includes bloodwork tests, flea treatments, intestinal de-worming, spay/neuter and vaccinations.

All of the dogs adopted during the event will have a 2023 dog license, which is also included in the adoption fee. 

The Summit County Animal Control is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday and by appointment on Saturdays.
