5. Golden Retriever – 22,200 monthly searches

The Cane Corso was the overwhelming winner not only in the state of Ohio, but across the country taking the first place spot in 46 states.

Here is a short description of the Cane Corso according to the Dog Advisory Council: "Cane Corsos are somewhat intimidating in appearance, with a large head and rippling muscles beneath their short dark coats.

The Cane Corso's Latin name roughly translates to 'bodyguard dog,' the perfect description for these incredibly protective and vigilant dogs. Despite this harsh exterior, Cane Corsos are affectionate with their family and eager to please them."

Dr. Lizzie Youens, a Veterinary Surgeon, comments on the shocking popularity of the Cane Corso in the United States:

"This interesting research reveals huge interest in the Cane Corso breed. This striking breed has been rising in popularity across the US ever since it was first recognized as a breed by the American Kennel Club in 2010. Loyal and loving, Cane Corsos can make excellent pets. However, they are large, intelligent, and very active dogs who need an experienced owner with the time to dedicate to training and exercise. These powerful dogs can weigh more than 100 pounds and can be highly assertive, so they are recommended for households with older children only if in a family setting."
