OHIO, USA — Several malls and shopping outlets in Ohio will be closed on Thanksgiving day this year thanks to Simon Property Group.

The group released a statement on Tuesday morning letting investors know that all 204 properties that the group owns will in fact stay closed for the holiday this year.

"In these challenging times, we made the decision that we will not open on Thanksgiving Day, instead allowing our associates to spend the holiday with their loved ones," said David Simon, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Simon.

The group did clarify, however, that they will re-open to shoppers on Black Friday this year.

Simon Group owns five total properties in Ohio: Aurora Farms, Summit Mall, Cincinnati Premium Outlets, Tanger Outlets Columbus, and The Mall at Tuttle Crossing.

3News reached out to several other local malls and outlets for comment on their own plans but were unable to obtain immediate comment.
