CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio — From black tie to dressy casual to themed, summertime can be full of events with various dress codes, and figuring out what to wear can be stressful.
"I’ve heard from so many clients that they have an event, and they're like, 'Wait a minute, what am I supposed to wear?'" says 3News Style Contributor and The Wardrobe Consultant Hallie Abrams. "Different events have different dress code rules, and while they're there, they're confusing and they're sort of changing and morphing."
It can also be hard to keep up with trendy colors and silhouettes that can help make you feel fresh and current. So, Hallie asked three local boutiques to meet her at one of Northeast Ohio's most beautiful event venues — Sapphire Creek Winery & Gardens — to help provide a little style inspiration.
HAVEN in Chagrin Falls; THD Shoppe, an online retailer based in Rocky River; and He Loves Curves, which has three area locations, all styled various looks for a variety of summer events ranging from black tie galas, to baby showers to themed weddings. But when in doubt, Hallie offered some tried and true advice: Don't be afraid to reach out to ask for clarification on the dress code.
"The rules are not that hard and fast anymore, but often, we want guidance," she explained. "We want to be dressed appropriately at these events. So, if in doubt, I would ask someone in the wedding party or the bride and groom or their family themselves. And if not, you're always better off to be a little overdressed than a little underdressed."
