Ambiance - The Store For Lovers sold to Lover's Lane & Co.

Despite the change in ownership, Ambiance says its customers can expect Lover’s Lane to continue to build upon the company culture that was a staple for 40 years.

Ambiance, a Northeast Ohio chain of intimate lingerie and adult accessories, has been sold to Lover’s Lane & Co. The announcement came in a release on Monday from Ambiance President Jennifer Downey and her longtime business partner, Henry Keiluhn.

In 1981, the two business partners launched Ambiance - The Store For Lovers. 40 years later, Lover’s Lane and Co. of Plymouth, Michigan, will take over. Since its grand opening in 1990, Lover’s Lane has expanded to 32 operating stores throughout Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Ohio.

“We are excited because there are consistencies in our business models,” Downey says. “Lover’s Lane sells similar items such as gift lotions and massage oils for couples, doesn’t sell X-rated videos, and their stores are located in suburban shopping centers like all of our stores. Their sales staff also works to provide the romantic resources for people to find the products they want and need to enhance their romance and love lives.”

With the mission of acknowledging that women are interested in the quality of their love life as their partner, Ambiance always offered a shopping experience that was fun, as well as woman-friendly.

The long term motto of Ambiance was always “Monogamy shouldn’t be monotonous!”

Over the years, Ambiance was known for its excellent customer service that led customers to come back time and time again. Ambiance stores received extensive recognition from businesses and other media publications. Smart Business awarded Ambiance seven World Class Customer Service Awards for customer service excellence, best customer service training systems and best customer experience.

Despite the transition in ownership, customers can expect Lover’s Lane to continue to build upon the company culture that Ambiance created.

“Ultimately, we were innovative in the friendly, supportive way we presented our products for mature adults,” Downey concludes. “For 40 years and multiple generations of customers, we helped couples connect, love, and support each other. We know that when they do that, it teaches their children what a loving relationship looks like, and we expect Lover’s Lane to carry on with our philosophy.”

There are six Ambiance locations in Northeast Ohio: North Olmsted, Parma Heights, Maple Heights, Mayfield Heights, Cuyahoga Falls, and Canton.
