CLEVELAND — Rite Aid has announced its latest batch of store closings as the pharmacy chain continues through its Chapter 11 bankruptcy process. According to documents filed on June 28 with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, 30 additional stores will be shuttered, including 16 in Ohio.
Here is the list of Rite Aid stores in Ohio slated to close per the latest court filing:
- Canton - 2574 Easton Street NE
- Dayton - 3700 North Dixie Drive
- Findlay - 1501 North Main Street
- Lima - 302 West Robb Avenue
- Marion - 332 South Main Street
- Norwalk - 99 Whittlesea Avenue
- Painesville - 180 North State Street
- Perrysburg - 1175 Louisiana Avenue
- Salem - 2229 East State Street
- Shaker Heights - 20405 Chagrin Blvd.
- Tallmadge - 45 East Avenue
- Warren - 5001 Mahoning Avenue
- Waterville - 8239 Waterville Swanton Road
- Westlake - 27175 Center Ridge Road
- Youngstown - 2704 Belmont Avenue
- Youngstown - 307 Boardman-Canfield Road
The other 14 stores closing are in Michigan.
Earlier in June, Rite Aid closed 27 stores in Ohio and Michigan.
An initial list of 154 Rite Aid locations to be closed was revealed last October, shortly after the pharmacy chain first filed for Chapter 11. Six of the 154 closings were in Ohio, including locations in Massillon and Youngstown. At the time, Rite Aid had more than 2,000 stores nationwide.
In November 2023, Rite Aid announced 32 more store closings, including Broadview Heights, Canton, East Liverpool, Fairlawn and Willoughby.
Rite Aid closed 55 more stores in late January, with 18 Ohio locations impacted. In April, Rite Aid announced that five Ohio locations would be closing, including in Lakewood and Massillon (Wales Ave. store).
On Friday, a U.S. bankruptcy judge on Friday approved Rite Aid’s restructuring plan, allowing the pharmacy chain to cut $2 billion in debt and turn over control of the company to a group of its lenders. NBC News reports that Rite Aid will emerge from bankruptcy with around 1,300 locations remaining.
Rite Aid currently lists 142 open stores in Ohio.
