Are you missing money? Cuyahoga County has $477 million in unclaimed funds

Across the state of Ohio, there is approximately $4 billion in unclaimed funds.

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio — Are you missing money? 

The Ohio Department of Commerce announced on Wednesday that Cuyahoga County ranks first in the state for unclaimed funds, with a whopping $477 million.

Officials also noted that the Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of Unclaimed Funds has approximately $4 billion in unclaimed funds across the state. 

Below is a list of the top 10 counties in Northeast Ohio by amount of unclaimed funds: 

  1. Cuyahoga (Ohio rank: 1) – $477 million
  2. Summit (5) – $130 million
  3. Stark (7) – $71.6 million
  4. Mahoning (9) – $58.9 million
  5. Lorain (10) – $49.4 million
  6. Lake (11) – $44.1 million
  7. Trumbull (13) – $38.7 million
  8. Portage (18) – $27.7 million
  9. Medina (20) – $25.3 million
  10. Columbiana (22) – $19.4 million

Here's how you can check to see if you have missing money and how you can claim it: 

  1. Search for money at unclaimedfunds.ohio.gov
  2. Gather the required supporting documents
  3. Send the information to the Division of Unclaimed Funds either online or by mail

Here's a list of which counties across the state have the most unclaimed funds: 

  1. Cuyahoga – $477 million
  2. Franklin – $343.1 million
  3. Hamilton – 267.3 million
  4. Montgomery – $131.4 million
  5. Summit – $130 million
