The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has announced that Dominion will be crediting customers for millions of dollars it over-collected, due to a change in the corporate tax rate.
The typical residential customer will see a credit of about $5.80 per month for the first year. In years two through six, that reduction falls to $3.15 per month, then a $1.55 reduction in year seven and beyond.
The change stems from January 2018, the PUCO ordered an investigation to study the impacts of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act on PUCO-regulated utilities. In December 2018, Dominion filed an application to adopt a new tariff to pass savings to customers due to the TCJA. Dominion, PUCO and the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel reached a settlement in October.
