BEREA, Ohio — It’s going to cost you more money to drive along the Ohio Turnpike next year as toll rates are going up.
The following price changes will take effect on Jan. 1, 2025:
Passenger vehicles (Class 1: Low 2-axle vehicles and all motorcycles -- including motorcycles pulling trailers)
- E-ZPass customers: The toll rate will increase to 7.1 cents per mile, which is up from 6.5 cents per mile in 2024.
- Cash / credit card: The toll rate will increase to 10.4 cents per mile, which is up from 9.6 cents per mile in 2024.
Commercial vehicles (Class 5: High 5-axle vehicles and low 6-axle vehicles)
- E-ZPass customers: The toll rate will increase to 22 cents per mile, which is up from 20.4 cents per mile in 2024.
- Cash / credit card: The toll rate will increase to 27.6 cents per mile, which is up from 25.6 cents per mile in 2024.

“Despite the rising costs of highway construction and bridge projects, the Ohio Turnpike’s toll rates still rank among of the lowest in the country,” according to a newsletter from the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission, which also notes they rely primarily on toll revenue -- and not tax dollars -- to operate and maintain the roadway, bridges and other projects.
Officials with the Ohio Turnpike say E-ZPass customers with passenger vehicles save an average of 33% compared to customers who pay with cash or credit card.
