CLEVELAND — An Olmsted Falls man had his life changed on Thursday thanks to Publishers Clearing House.
Scott Cerne, who is an essential worker at Fairview Hospital, was surprised with a big check for $200,000 during his shift.
The Prize Patrol from Publishers Clearing House showed up at Cerne's job after trying to execute the surprise at his home.
Dressed in blue scrubs and a surgical mask, Cerne happily accepted the surprise check.
Following the surprise, Cerene posed for pictures with his check and announced his plans for the money.
"Take care of some bills, and a real nice vacation. Somewhere warm and tropical, for about a month, he explained. "Just celebrate with my wife, just be happy and enjoy it."
The Prize Patrol from Publishers Clearing House has given away over half a billion dollars in prizes across the country.
Prior to the check presentation, the recipient is not notified beforehand, preserving the thrilling surprise of what is yet to come
While there is no guarantee that the winner will be home when the Prize Patrol arrives at their residence, however, with more and more people working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic, the chances of the winner being home are better than ever before.
Despite that not being the case for Cerne, the surprise went off without a hitch.
