CLEVELAND — The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) has announced they will be reducing the prices of their all-day passes effective Sunday.
The reduction comes following the results of a "Fare Equity" study conducted last year that determined the all-day passes to be too expensive in relation to the other RTA fares. A list of prices that will be reduced are:
- All-day Individual Pass: reduced from $5.50 to $5
- All-day Senior/Disabled Pass: reduced from $2.75 to $2.50
- All-day Children's Pass: (ages 6-12 accompanied by an adult) reduced from $2.75 to $2.50
- All-day Student K-12 Pass: reduced from $4.50 to $4.25
- All-day Paratransit Pass: reduced from $7.50 to $7
"Now, for the price of a round-trip cash fare, customers can ride all day," RTA CEO and General Manager India Birdsong said. "They will have unlimited access to the system, including free transfers, for the entire day."
Additionally, the RTA changed the rules in regards to the sale of one-trip and two-trip farecards that provide free-transfer privileges. Previously sold only in bulk to organizations, the cards will now be available to individuals in small or large quantities.
Future fare increases that were expected for 2021 and 2022 were rescinded by the Board of Trustees at its Sept. 1 meeting.
