CLEVELAND — It's going to be a special summer in Cleveland.
The city will host the MLB All-Star Game on July 9, its first since 1997. Downtown Cleveland will be packed as fans of all teams and cities congregate for the game, the Home Run Derby, Celebrity Softball Game and more.
Local restaurants, bars and shops anticipate a $65 million boost to the economy, according to the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission.
Getting into the game will be costly, as the cheapest ticket currently on Vivid Seats is selling for $425 for standing room only. Home plate seats are $2,800 and club seats are currently about $3,000.
The Play Ball Park fan fest runs July 5-9 at the Cleveland Convention Center.
Local fans can also volunteer at various events during All-Star week.
MLB is looking for about 2,200 volunteers to help out at a number of events, from hospitality to logistics and transportation. Though volunteers aren't paid, they'll receive some cool swag in return for their time.
The 75th NBA All-Star Game also comes to Cleveland in 2022.
