CLEVELAND — 3News' Dave Chudowsky took a few moments Tuesday morning to share some personal and sad news: His mother Linda Chudowsky passed away Friday at the age of 84.
"She was my mom, my friend and had my back every day," Chudowsky said.
Dave shared that he got the news Friday morning, when his dad called and said, "David, Mother is gone." Linda passed away in her sleep.
"I wanted to honor her this morning and say thank you for being the greatest." Dave stated. "If you met her, you know."
Dave will take some time off to be with his family this week, but wanted to come in and be with his work family.
"Since 2007, my parents have been able to watch me do what I truly love to do," he said. "She was proud and she loved this show. She really loved all of you."
Linda was actually part of the show, sharing her concord grape pie recipe back in 2018. She wrote on the recipe, "It's a lot of work, but it's worth it."
Dave's coworkers believe she is where he got is incredible work ethic.
"She was just so sweet and exuded love, and you can tell how much she adored Dave," co-anchor Maureen Kyle said.
"She was so proud of Dave," Hollie Strano declared.
"I remember us interviewing Dave's mom for a surprise we were working on for him, and she was so proud of him," executive producer Jennifer Jordan added. "But in typical mom fashion, she wanted to know why we would make him change his hair. 'He was so handsome already,' she told me."
Dave wore a red tie, his mom's favorite color, Tuesday morning. Calling hours are scheduled for 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the McGorray-Hanna Funeral Home in Westlake, with a funeral Mass to follow Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Raphael Parish in Bay Village.
