We've been meeting inspiring moms this week, and today WKYC's Maureen Kyle spoke with Chanelle Brown.
Inspired by her story about photographer Brittany Gidley, Maureen visited the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital to surprise Chanelle and learn more about her story.
Chanelle's daughter, Promyse, has been at the NICU since she was born in January, battling a heart condition that necessitated an early surgery and will require additional care.
Chanelle hasn't had much time for herself since then, balancing her time between overnight stays at the hospital while caring for older daughter, Akita, at the same time.
Promyse, who is also called Lila, is doing well and Chanelle hopes she'll be going home in May.
"My birthday is May 23, I'm hoping she's my birthday gift," she told us.
We were thrilled to help give Chanelle an opportunity to pamper herself (when she eventually has the time!) -- thanks to a makeover and salon services from Ladies & Gentlemen Salon and a beautiful piece of jewelry from Banyan Tree.
