Get ready for more tacos, tequila, and whiskey.
Barrio has announced it will open its sixth Northeast Ohio location in downtown Kent this summer, just a short walk away from the Kent State University campus. The company called the area "a young, growing city with similar values to Barrio which include community, family, friends, and supporting local artists."
Said owner Sean Fairbairn:
"We are so excited to see Barrio grow into more neighborhoods in just 7 years since we opened the first in Tremont, Ohio. Our initial intention when opening Barrio was to give Tremont a taco joint, so we are very grateful to introduce Barrio to new neighborhoods where people of all ages can enjoy!"
Barrio, known for its "build-your-own" tacos, has not yet announced an exact opening date. The location will be at 295 South Water St., nearby already popular bars such as Water Street Tavern, The Loft, and Zephyr Pub.
In addition to the Kent spot, Barrio also plans to open restaurants in two more states by the end of the year. The company already has a location in New Hampshire to go with its Northeast Ohio group, as well as five food trucks and two taco stands at Progressive Field.
