Odell Beckham Jr. is no stranger to the spotlight. But this time, things are different.
The NFL wide receiver has a new city, new team and new chip on his shoulder. Now, he's opening up about all of that in the August edition of GQ magazine.
The Cleveland Browns acquired Beckham in March, sending the New York Giants their first and third-round picks in addition to safety Jabrill Peppers.
Since then, Beckham, 26, has made it clear he wasn't pleased with the trade, but says he's ready for a new chapter in Cleveland.
“I felt disrespected,” Beckham told GQ's Mark Anthony Green. “This team has not been good for the last six years. Period…I felt like I was a main reason at keeping that brand alive. They were getting prime-time games, still, as a 5 and 11 team. Why? Because people want to see the show. You want to see me play…I felt disrespected they weren’t even man enough to even sit me down to my face and tell me what’s going on.”
Beckham also opened up about coverage by the media, which he feels is unfair as his comments and actions are often taken out of context, he says. He went on to tell GQ that he doesn't want to enter the field of broadcasting following his NFL career. Instead, he says he's interested in mentoring and heading to Hollywood.
