Moon over Parma, bring my love to Progressive Field tonight?
The Indians will honor that special city "where those pink flamingos stand" on July 12 against the New York Yankees when they host "Parma Night" at the stadium.
Members of the Parma Recreation Department will be able to participate in a parade around the field before the game starts at 7:10 p.m., and Mayor Tim DeGreeter will voluntarily give up his chance to throw out the first pitch (for the seventh time) by letting a city resident 17 or younger do the honors.
“Parma Night at Progressive Field is one of the highlights of our summer, and it’s great to see so many Parma residents taking advantage of this special night at the ballpark,” Mayor DeGeeter said. “And for me, it’s neat to give away the chance to throw out the first pitch. Going out to the mound with the first-pitch winner and seeing the excitement there is always fun.”
Young fans can enter to throw out the first ball by purchasing tickets in advance at the Parma Recreation Department. The winner will be chosen via raffle.
Family deck seats for Parma Night can be purchased for $20 at the recreation center on Ridge Road every weekday until June 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The first 12,500 fans through the gates at Progressive Field the night of the game will also receive a Carlos Carrasco bobblehead doll.
Unfortunately, we still haven't confirmed if "Moon Over Parma" will be played.
