The U.S. Coast Guard and Huron officials received a 911 just before 2 p.m. requesting help at Nickle Plate Beach Sunday afternoon.
At the scene, Huron Fire and Police recused six people from the waters and an 18-year-old remains missing.
The man has been identified as Alvin Martin of Ashland,Ohio.
Martin was riding a raft with a group of men assisting others struggling in the water. However,before making it back to shore, Martin went underwater and did not resurface.
The in the water search for Martin was suspended by Huron Fire just before six Sunday. The Coast Guard is suspending their search overnight, but plan to go back out on Monday morning after sunrise.
The beach is closed until further notice.
