'Donating makes a world of difference': Lily Rose Lee to hold fundraiser for her Unleashed Animal Rescue

She's helped dozens of animals find loving homes, but running a rescue is pricey. Now, Lily Rose Lee is hoping a fundraiser will help.

WELLINGTON, Ohio — Every time you visit Lily Rose Lee at her Unleashed Animal Rescue in Wellington, you'll know exactly where her heart is. It's always been with the animals, most of which weren't shown love or care in the way that they deserved.

On Monday, we met Bosco, a Congo African grey parrot, who was recently placed with Lily at Unleashed.

"He has been through a rough ... say 'I've been through rough times,' huh? Lily said to Bosco. "He was surrendered to me by a person that could no longer take care of him. He had gotten into an accident."

But the lack of care took it's toll.

"(Bosco) was super stressed out and he lost I would say 80% of his feathers," Lily said.

But now, Bosco is here getting loved on by Lily.

"How I get them to grow back in is I stimulate their follicles by putting a little bit of coconut oil on them every day," Lily said of helping Bosco to regrow his feathers.

Bosco is getting nursed back to health until he's ready for adoption. But, Lily needs specific equipment to him there, like an incubator.

"With fatty liver, it affects with their blood flow," Lily said of Bosco's condition. "He needs to stay warm."

Bosco is part of a wide variety of animals Lily cares for and costs are adding up.

"Rabbit feed, goat, feed, chicken feed," Lily said, while showing all the supplies in the barn.

Not to mention, the cost of medical bills, specialized care and proper enclosures for the animals.

Lily's hoping a fundraiser on Saturday, August 31, will help bring in donations.

"We have to raise funds or these organizations do not work out," Lily said.

The goal, is to get many of these animals adopted, and into loving homes, like the one she's provided here at Unleashed.

The healing, Lily says, has gone both ways.

"This journey for me was just helping animals that are not loved, thrown away, pushed to the side," Lily said. "So by giving a little of your heart and donating makes a world of difference for everyone, not just these animals. It helps the person that is dropping them off to be secure, that their animals are going to be safe and loved."
