MANSFIELD, Ohio — The Ohio State Reformatory is best known for its role in the iconic film "The Shawshank Redemption."
But country artist Eric Church also gave the historic prison some screen time in his new music video, which was released over the weekend. The single, titled "Some Of It," is featured on Church's latest album, "Desperate Man."
Watch the video below:
In the video, Church is imprisoned for bootlegging music, a follow-up to his video for "Desperate Man." Church's daughter manages to smuggle a guitar into the prison -- with help from some other inmates and a sneaky guard -- so that her father can continue to make music.
The story seemingly doesn't end with the video. Church is seen leaving prison in the end, donning his signature aviator sunglasses as a mysterious character makes a phone call, simply saying, "He's out."
The Ohio State Reformatory serves as the backdrop for most of the video. According to Richland Source, Church's production team reached out to the reformatory in March about filming there.
Reformatory associate director Dan Smith told Richland Source that Church's interest in using the prison stemmed from his fandom of "The Shawshank Redemption."
