The Lake County Sheriff's Office issued a warning on Facebook Friday regarding a coyote that has been wandering around Painesville Township.

Authorities say they received a message from a resident about the coyote, saying it was roaming "every front yard on that street, circling the vehicles in the driveways and sniffing around garbage cans." The animal was also described as "hungry and possibly diseased."

People in the area are asked to be on guard to protect their children and pets. Last month, a dog was killed following a coyote attack in Mentor.
