ELYRIA, Ohio — One person is dead and another is in custody after authorities responded to reports of a suspect shooting at multiple motorcyclists across Lorain County during the late afternoon and early evening hours on Tuesday.
County sheriff's deputies were first made aware of the situation just after 6:15 p.m., when they responded to an alleged shooting near Lake Avenue and Emerson Court in Elyria Township. The victim in that incident later died at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center.

After talking to witnesses, authorities say the description of the suspect vehicle matched that of another one seen in similar shootings reported in Amherst between 5 and 6 p.m. No one was injured in either of those incidents around North Leavitt Road, but officials believe at least one motorcycle may have been hit by a bullet.
Deputies were able to identify a suspect, who was "taken into custody for questioning" at a home in the city of Elyria just before 7 p.m. The individual's name has not yet been released.
UH also confirms its Elyria facility was briefly placed on lockdown after a group of bikers showed up at the hospital. That order was later lifted by 8 p.m.
The identity of the victim who died has not been made public at this time. Charges remain pending against the suspect, and the Lorain County Sheriff's Office says it will release more information in the coming days as its investigation continues.
