Aliza Sherman murder in Cleveland: No answers 11 years later

Aliza Sherman was stabbed 11 times in front of 75 Erieview Plaza on March 24, 2013.

CLEVELAND — It was March 24, 2013, around 5 p.m., when Cleveland Clinic fertility nurse Aliza Sherman arrived at 75 Erieview Plaza in Downtown Cleveland to meet with her divorce attorney.

But,  but she never made it inside. Instead, her life was stolen by someone who stabbed her 11 times in broad daylight, leaving her to die. Sadly, she did, the next day.

Police say the person seen in surveillance video, wearing dark clothing, could be her killer, but they've never been caught. Since then, time has ticked by with no answers.

"I think when this initially happened, we thought someone would be investigated in a few days," said Aliza's daughter, Jenn Sherman, in March 2023. "I never thought we'd still be here 10 years later with no one being held accountable."

In 2021 the Ohio BCI took over Aliza's case. Today, BCI press secretary Steve Irwin releasing this statement to 3News. It reads:

"BCI's cold case unit continues to actively investigate the Aliza Sherman cold case homicide -- we do not have any updates to share at this time."

This Sunday, 3/24, marks 11 years since Aliza was brutally stabbed to death- murdered during broad daylight in downtown...

What is being shared -- is Aliza's memory -- a beloved mother, nurse and friend. In March of 2023, a collaboration with Cleveland Clinic created the Aliza Sherman fund, to provide support to patients and caregivers who have experienced violence. Last year, Aliza's daughter Jenn said the pain of losing her mom never gets easier.

"It's hard to describe to my kids where their grandmother is when she would've been the absolute best grandmother," Jenn told 3News last year.

A $100,000 dollar reward is still available to anyone with information leading up to the arrest of Aliza's killer.
