WARREN, Ohio — A 17-year-old has been arrested following a deadly shooting that took place during a cell phone sale in Warren over the weekend.
According to the Warren Police Department, the incident took place on Saturday, November 19, when the suspect met with the victim to purchase a cell phone. It is not believed that the incident is connected to the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Mye'Zavier "Zay" Cannady of Brunswick that occurred during a meet-up to sell a PlayStation in Warren on November 11.
"We urge the public to take every precaution when it comes to selling or buying items online," the Warren Police Department wrote on its Facebook page. "We would like to remind everyone that a prearranged location is accessible at the Warren Police Department for such transactions. Finally, we want to thank our community for the continued cooperation with these Investigations."
Warren Police are continuing to search for the suspects responsible for Zay's death and are working on several leads. Meanwhile, Brunswick Police told 3News' Carmen Blackwell they have launched a program that is intended to avoid incidents like this from happening.
