CANTON, Ohio — Two 16-year-old students at Canton South High School have been charged after a "disturbing incident" that occurred inside a bathroom on Monday, according to the Stark County Sheriff's Office.
Video circulating on social media shows what appears to be several students surrounding and taunting another boy inside the boys restroom at the high school. At one point in the footage, the perpetrators can be seen tugging at the victim's shirt.
In a statement shared with 3News, the Canton Local School District in Canton Township said:
"We are aware of the disturbing incident that took place in the restroom at Canton South High School on November 25th, 2024 and has since been shared on social media. Our administration started investigating immediately after being notified and is continuing to review all evidence from the incident. The district will be issuing school discipline consistent with our school board policies. Additionally, we are fully cooperating with an investigation with the Stark County Sheriff's office. We take this matter very seriously and are working to make sure everyone involved is held accountable."
Law enforcement officials confirm the two teen suspects have both been charged with assault, while one of them faces an additional theft charge. Officials are still looking into the matter as of Tuesday night.
