2 dead after vehicle found with ‘numerous bullet holes’ on I-680 in Youngstown: What police are saying

The driver was dead at the scene, while a passenger later died at the hospital.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Police are looking for answers after two people were killed in Youngstown late Thursday night.

The situation started around 10:43 p.m. when Youngstown officers responded to I-680 North for a possible accident near the Salt Springs exit.

But when authorities arrived, officers say they found a Nissan Altima that had “numerous bullet holes” with two victims inside.

The driver, an unidentified male, was dead at the scene.

A female passenger was found with a pulse, but police say she later died at the hospital. Her identity has also not been released.

The Youngstown Detective Bureau and Crime Scene Unit were dispatched to the incident where the scene was processed for evidence.

No additional details were immediately available as police continue their investigation with the Mahoning County Coroner's Office.

Anybody with information that leads to an arrest and / or prosecution is eligible for reward money, police noted. Those with tips are asked to call 30-746-CLUE or 330-746-8YPC. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
