CLEVELAND — Two teenagers will face charges after leading police on a chase in a stolen vehicle that ended in a three-car crash in Cleveland on Saturday.
According to the Parma Police Department, the incident began at approximately 3:49 p.m. when a Parma Police officer tried to stop a gray Kia sedan for heavily tinted windows as the car was driving southbound on Ridge Rd. near Pelham Dr. The car began to flee westbound on S. Canterbury before cutting over to Westminster Dr. and fleeing to Pearl Rd., continuing northbound.
During the pursuit, the officer was able to confirm that the car had been reported as stolen out of Wickliffe.
The officer continued to pursue the vehicle until it struck two vehicles on Pearl Rd. just south of Denison Ave. in Cleveland. All three vehicles were disabled as a result of the crash, including a Jeep Compass that flipped over as a result of the impact.
Two males -- a 19-year-old from Cleveland and a 15-year-old from Euclid -- fled from the stolen vehicle before being apprehended by Parma Police officers. A Taurus 9mm semi-automatic pistol that had been reported stolen from Euclid was also recovered inside the stolen vehicle.
The drivers of the two vehicles that were involved in the crash were transported to a local hospital and only suffered minor injuries. The 19-year-old driver of the stolen car refused medical treatment, while the 15-year-old passenger was transported to UH Parma to get medically cleared.
According to Parma police, both the adult male and the juvenile male will be facing charges in their respective courts as a result of the incident.
