CLEVELAND — A police chase of an allegedly stolen car that began in Medina County ended with two young suspects being arrested in Cleveland Thursday, troopers said.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, just before 1 p.m. Tuesday troopers saw a 2024 Chevrolet Corvette that had been reported stolen out of Greenville, near Dayton, the previous night. Troopers first saw the sports car driving northbound on Interstate 71 in Montville Township.
Troopers followed the suspect vehicle onto Interstate 271 northbound, then onto Interstate 480 westbound, then to State Route 176 northbound.
The car exited the highway onto Lee Road in Cleveland before troopers stopped the car on East 146th Street near Kinsman Road. At the same time, around 1:30 p.m., OnStar remotely disabled the allegedly stolen car.
Two youths ran away from the car and were both arrested. Troopers recovered a semi-automatic gun that was reported stolen at the scene.
One of the suspects was taken to a Cleveland children's hospital "as a precaution." The other minor suspect was found to have been designated as a missing person by the Dayton Police Department and will be transported back to Dayton.
Charges against the two youths are pending as troopers continue to investigate the incident.
