HURON COUNTY, Ohio — Four people suffered injuries after a suspected drunk driver rammed into a horse-drawn buggy Sunday night in Huron County.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the buggy was headed south on U.S. Route 250 in Greenwich Township when it was struck in the rear by a Toyota Camry near mile post 19. All four in the buggy were thrown from the vehicle, while the Toyota fled the scene before it and its driver were eventually located in Ashland County.
A 51-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl were both transported to University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center in Ashland, and their exact conditions are unknown. A 53-year-old man and an 11-year-old boy each received minor injuries, but both were treated at the scene.
The suspect has been identified as 58-year-old Renold R. Workman, of Vermilion. He was not injured in the crash, but officials believe he had been drinking. Possible criminal charges are pending.
This matter remains under investigation.
