STARK COUNTY, Ohio — The Canton Post of Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left an 83-year-old woman dead.
On December 4, 37-year-old Brian Walton was driving his red Toyota Camry east bound on Pontius Road in Lake Township when he struck Elena Ispas, of Uniontown, who was in the roadway.
The crash took place around 6 p.m. and according to witness, the victim was standing in the eastbound lane when she was struck.
Miss Ispas suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Uniontown EMS and Police alongside Springfield Police assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation, but drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
