Akron man accused of killing dog on Facebook Live wanted after failing to appear in court

Summit County prosecutors say Marc Wolfe failed to show up to a hearing on whether he should be placed into custody for violating the terms of his bond.

AKRON, Ohio — Summit County prosecutors say Marc Wolfe, an Akron man who has been charged with animal cruelty, failed to show up for a court hearing on Thursday and now faces an arrest warrant.

Wolfe is accused of killing one of his dogs on Facebook Live earlier this year and was out on bond prior to Thursday's hearing.

According to James Pollack, the director of communications for the Summit County Prosecutor's Office, Thursday's hearing was to determine whether Wolfe should be placed into custody for violating the terms of his bond.

As part of his bond agreement, Wolfe had his other dog confiscated and was ordered not to "own, use, possess, or be in vicinity for any firearm or other weapons while under indictment.

Pollack says while Wolfe's guns were confiscated, he has been showing up at the Summit County Humane Society with a gun strapped to his hip/leg demanding that his dog be returned.

After Wolfe missed Thursday's hearing, Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Susan Baker Ross issued a warrant for his arrest, ordering that the 32-year-old must turn himself in by Monday, Sept. 16.

Wolfe's trial is slated to begin on Oct. 7, but Pollack says that date is "in question since he's not in custody."

Court records show that Wolfe was indicted in June on a felony and misdemeanor charge of cruelty to animals. The incident happened sometime between April 27 and May 8 of this year.

Summit County prosecutors say because the crime against Wolfe is of a violent nature, he could be subject to incarceration.
