Akron police: Man hospitalized after early morning shooting

The victim told Akron police he was shot by an unknown suspect near the intersection of Hudson Avenue and McKinley Avenue. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man injured early Monday morning.

According to a release, officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 700 block of Hudson Avenue just after midnight. Police arrived to find a 52-year-old man outside a home with apparent gunshot wounds to his legs. Officers rendered emergency first aid, including applying a tourniquet, until EMS arrived.

The victim was taken to Summa Health Akron City Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He told police he was shot by an unknown suspect near the intersection of Hudson Avenue and McKinley Avenue. 

The investigation is ongoing as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
