AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Police Department is investigating after multiple gunshots were fired during an incident in the overnight hours of Sunday.
In a release, police say the incident happened "outside an establishment in the 900 block of Brown Street early Sunday morning." Officers responded to the scene at approximately 3:30 a.m. "after hearing rapid gunfire nearby."
Police officials add that while officers were making their way to the area, "multiple 911 calls poured in about a large fight." But when police arrived, they did not find any shooting victims or suspects. Instead, they found "two dozen shell casings littering the scene. Officers also found a parked car that was struck by bullets."
According to the release, evidence from the scene was collected and will be processed. In the meantime, efforts are underway "to identify the unknown persons involved in the reckless incident."
