AVON LAKE, Ohio — 38-year-old Anthony Rubino, the director of strength and conditioning at Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, has been suspended from his role after he was arrested earlier this month on charges of domestic violence and endangering children in Avon Lake.
He was arraigned in Avon Lake Municipal Court on Aug. 5 where he pleaded not guilty and posted bond, which was set at $2,500.
Court records show Rubino is due back in court for a pretrial hearing on Aug. 29 at 9:15 a.m.
A spokesperson for Saint Ignatius High School told 3News on Friday that the school immediately made the decision to suspend Rubino once they learned of his arrest.
STATEMENT FROM SAINT IGNATIUS
3News also received the following statement from Rev. Raymond P. Guiao, who is the school's president and chief mission officer:
These allegations are in direct conflict with the values of our school, our faculty and of the entire Saint Ignatius High School community. We respect the legal process and will cooperate fully with authorities as they conduct their investigation. We will act quickly and decisively once we learn the outcome of the investigation but until that time, and in abundance of caution, Mr. Rubino will remain on suspension.
