MIAMI — Brendan Paul, the 25-year-old man from Chagrin Falls named in a case connected to rap mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors after being arrested on drug charges in March.
"Brendan accepted the prosecutor’s offer to permit his entry into the diversion program which, after completion, the case against him will be dismissed in its entirety.” Paul's attorney Brian Bieber told 3News in an email statement.
Paul was arrested on March 25 in Opa-Locka, Florida. The arrest report from Miami-Dade police shows Paul was taken into custody for allegedly being in possession of suspected cocaine and marijuana-laced candy.
“The defendant had the contraband inside of his personal travel bags, which he claimed prior to being searched,” according to the arrest report. “The suspect cocaine was located and tested by agents.”
Police list Paul's address in the 16500 block of Heatherwood Lane in Chagrin Falls. He played college basketball for Syracuse University and Fairmont State University, where he graduated with a business degree.
The arrest of Paul in March came the same day authorities searched Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami in a bi-coastal raid that captured national attention. The Associated Press previously reported the raids are “part of an ongoing sex trafficking investigation by federal authorities in New York.”
Paul was named in a 79-page lawsuit that was filed against Combs by his former producer Rodney Jones on March 4 in the United States Federal Court Southern District of New York. One line in the complaint alleges Paul works as Combs’ mule.
“He acquires, and distributes, Mr. Combs Drugs, and Guns,” according to the document.
