BEDFORD HEIGHTS, Ohio — Charges are pending against a 24-year-old man after police in Bedford Heights say he fired shots at officers, resulting in a six-hour standoff.
The situation started around 9:42 p.m. Wednesday when the Bedford Heights Police Department received a 911 call from the man who provided an address on Scarlet Oak Drive before hanging up.
When the first officer arrived, police say the man began to fire shots from his front porch before retreating inside the residence. That’s when police say the Hostage Negotiator Unit and SWAT team were activated.
Police say he continued firing shots at officers from inside his residence. Ultimately, tear gas was deployed and he was arrested after the hourslong standoff.
Nobody was hurt, according to police.
