At approximately 3:12 p.m. on Wednesday, the Maple Heights and Bedford Police Departments received calls about shots fired near Corkhill Road, Wood Brook Avenue and Lee Road South.

After an initial investigation of the incident, it was determined that multiple suspects were outside of a black or dark colored SUV on Longvale Avenue in Maple Heights, close to the border with Bedford. A red SUV drove eastbound past the dark SUV on Longvale when the suspects opened fire at the red SUV.

The red SUV turned North onto Lee Road South attempting to flee the gunfire. It was during the gunfire when the woman in her apartment on the 600 block of Lee Road South was struck by a stray bullet.

After ceasing fire, the suspects entered their SUV and fled the area toward Dunham road.

The red SUV sustained bullet damage, however none of the passengers were injured in the shooting.

The female who was struck by gunfire received injuries described as "non-life-threatening" according to Maple Heights police.

The Maple Heights Police Department is looking for information on the occupants of the black or dark colored SUV.

Anyone with information related to this case is urged to contact the Maple Heights Detective Bureau at (216) 587-9624 or Detectives@mhpd-ohio.com
