BRUNSWICK, Ohio — A Brunswick City Schools employee has been placed on adminstrative leave after being arrested
According to a statement from Brunswick City Schools Superintendent Jason Niedermeyer, the district found out Friday morning that its coordinator of special education, Leann Alferio, was arrested.
"It is our understanding that the arrest was for an incident unrelated to school district business," Niedermeyer stated. "Ms. Alferio was immediately placed on administrative leave in order to provide the district with the time and space to understand what had occurred."
Elyria Municipal Court records show that Alferio has been charged with a felony count of interception of wire, oral or electronic communication. The case was investigated by the Lorain County Sheriff's Office, with a warrant taken out for Alferio's arrest on Nov. 27.
"The safety of our students and staff is our number one concern. This matter is independent of her professional responsibilities. During the course of any police investigation unrelated to Brunswick City School District business, we will have no other comments," Niedermeyer added in his release.
