EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — Police are on the hunt for suspects after a 15-year-old girl was shot in the head and killed Sunday.
East Cleveland authorities say the teen was shot in the area of Allegheny Circle and Northfield Avenue. She was taken to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in critical condition, and died from her injuries Tuesday..
In a Facebook post, the South Euclid Police Department confirms that the victim, Brush High School student Ke’Viania James, was a resident of their city. They offered their condolences to James’ family and made a plea to the community to bring those responsible to justice.
According police, no arrests have been made. They are asking anyone who was in the Allegheny, Northfield or Manhattan areas on July 5 or anyone who may have any information about the shooting to give them a call at (216) 681-2162. Callers can remain anonymous and could receive a reward of up to $2,500 if information provided leads to an arrest and conviction of the person (or persons) responsible.
Ke'Viania was, along with her family, a parishioner at New Covenant Lutheran Church on Hayden Avenue. Funeral arrangements are pending.
